Voting in the rain
I promise this isn't political.

Yesterday, I went to vote and the line was wrapped outside the building. I had come from work, was in nice clothes, and the weather was overcast. Hardly anyone was talking, everyone seemed to feel uncomfortable, and it felt like we were waiting in line at a funeral (not to be dramatic). As I stood there, a sweet old lady and I started a conversation.
Next thing I know, this 70-year-old woman is sharing her umbrella with me as it pours. We talked about her long career in teaching, my 2-year-old son, and her grandchildren. I believe that most people are good and this lady was a gentle reminder of that. The whole interaction gave me a ton of hope in a time that everyone feels so on edge.
I didn’t get her name, but felt this lady deserved some recognition.
If you know someone that would enjoy reading each Monday & Friday, please feel free to share! If not, that’s okay too.
