Internal / External Simplicity

Is simple good?

My good friend, Tyus Welter, and I had a conversation this past week on the topic of simplicity in life.

We were discussing whether we thought a simple life was good, beneficial, and fair to ourselves as human beings? I know a number of people I love & respect have different opinions on this topic, therefore it’s worth sharing our conversation.

TJ:

“I’ve done more thinking on simplicity of life and if we should seek it.

External simplicity can numb our minds and therefore shouldn’t be sought for the duration of life. Internal simplicity has no regard for external circumstances and may be the most meaningful thing that we are or become.”

Tyus:

“I like the difference between internal and external. Internal simplicity is building a boat to withstand the waves of life. External simplicity is putting your boat in the shallow end of a pool.”

If you know someone that would enjoy reading each Monday & Friday, please feel free to share! If not, that’s okay too.
